Alan Dean Foster est connu pour ses novellisations de films comme Aliens, Krull, Le trou noir, Outland, Starman ou Starfighter. Pas foncièrement excellente, pas foncièrement mauvaise, simplement une bonne adaptation du film Star Trek sorti en 2009. Sur un scénario de Roberto Orci et Alex Kurtzman, ce onzième opus trouve ici une version livre tout à fait honnête.
