La Chasse fantôme est une légende germanique, celle de cavaliers Sidh, c’est-à-dire féériques, qui chasseraient les humains par les nuits de pleine lune. Dans ce roman, des magiciens, l’Ordre des Veilleurs, ont arrêté la Chasse et fait disparaître le Coryphée, son meneur, parmi les hommes. Mais un criminel s’est emparé du Cor qui appelle les Chasseurs et va ainsi les libérer. Naatalis, un jeune Veilleur, provoque une explosion qui le rend paraplégique, fait sombrer son père dans le coma et tue son meilleur ami, Adrien. Jugé responsable de la libération de la Chasse qui est devenue un fléau mondial, car elle frappe chaque nuit en cherchant son meneur, Natalis, suspendu de ses fonctions, veut réparer sa faute, trouver et tuer le Coryphée, ce qui, croit-il, guérirait son père. Mais il est confiné dans une petite ville d’Allemagne, Altenheim. Avec son frère Felix et son ami Ielissei, arrivera-t-il à mettre Genovese hors d’état de nuire et à arrêter la Chasse ?

 

Un long roman de passage à l’âge adulte, en même temps qu’une réflexion sur le Bien, le Mal, et la tolérance incarnée par Felix, tout à fait réussi.
