Tout petit livre (95 pages, une novella), au format inhabituel car tout en longueur, nous avons un récit tendre et dur sur les relations entre un homme et son père, cet homme et son fils, un grand-père et un petit-fils.

Le vieil homme est atteint d’Alzheimer et vit en institution. Ca fait longtemps qu’il s’est perdu dans sa mémoire, qu’il répond « D’accord » à tout, sans comprendre la question. Le récit se passe sur la route partagée par le narrateur et son fils Vladimir, grand ado, et la courte visite que l’on soupçonne régulière mais rare à l’aïeul. La relation entre les deux ainés n’a pas été réussie ; le grand-père et son fils se sont loupés.

Le texte est incisif, cruel parfois parce que très lucide sur cette relation ratée que l’auteur regrette. Puis il y a une poésie des mots, choisis à la pince à épiler, tellement exacts, précis mais aussi non dénués de tendresse. Le tout en chapitres peu nombreux mais avec des petits sujets variés qui permettent une lecture morcelée pour être plus réfléchie.

La fin est toute en surprise !
